Four more questions in the #SYW challenge.
What is your favourite beverage?
Without doubt my favourite beverage is a latte. I like them weak and with only a thin layer of foam which can be a hard balance to find.
What is your interpretation of ‘The Golden Rule”? Are there ramifications to breaking it?
Every area of life seems to have its own Golden Rule so this is a tough question to answer. I think the nearest I can get to an overarching Rule is: ‘Treat other people as you want them to treat you.’ For me, this means being treated, and treating others, fairly with respect, and kindness. The ramifications of not following the rule are obvious. If I don’t treat people with kindness and respect, I have no right to expect the same in return. A world in which we are all kinder and more respectful to one another would be a welcome improvement. Oh dear, that sounds a bit sanctimonious but you did ask!
Sunrise or sunset person?
It depends on the time of year. In winter, sunrise can be pretty late so there’s no need to get up specially early to see it. Around here, winter sunrise can be especially atmospheric with mist smoking along the water of a loch or drifting across a hilltop. The long days of mid-summer mean sunrise is almost in the middle of the night and it can still be light around 11pm. I love them all.
Do people in modern society anthropomorphize animals too much?
Yes, I think some people do, especially dogs.
And finally, what were you grateful for during the past week?
My umbrella. After a hot, dry summer our weather seems to be doing its best to refill all the rivers, lochs and reservoirs in double-quick time.
